Personal profile

Biography

Charles' background is in IT where he worked in various roles in software development and project management / project office.  In an education context Charles has developed and taught courses in Computing, Business, Social Enterprise and Project Management, a theme that persists across all of these areas is in the development of graduates who can be productive in a range of roles when they transition into employment following their studies.

Charles has always worked closely with industry to design courses that provide graduates with the range of skills and knowledge that will be useful to them and their employers.  This connection is exemplified in the growth of the project management provision at Cumbria, which now sees well over 1000 learners each year undertaking studies alongside their workplace roles, making the University of Cumbria the largest provider of undergraduate project management courses in the UK.  To achieve this, Charles has developed strong relationships with employers from multiple sectors including defence, media, manufacturing, public service and third sector.
