Biography
Rachael is an experienced project practitioner, with operational experience from brands including English Heritage, De Vere, The National Trust and the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).
She has since spent over a decade in the public sector in Regeneration and Planning, specialising in destination marketing, visitor economy and place management, including place-shaping and public realm projects such as Morecambe Area Action Plan (leading to Eden Project North), Lancaster Square Routes & Heritage Action Zone, Marketing (digital, print, campaigns & CRM) and multi-agency events management for Lancaster City Council. She managed Lancaster and Morecambe Bay place-brand projects, and led the Business Recovery for the Lancaster District following the devastating impact of Storm Desmond in 2015.
Teaching
Rachael joined the University in 2020 and leads Level 6 of the Online Project Management Degree Apprenticeship Programme. She leads Stakeholder Engagement & Communication and delivers across the PMDA programme Levels 4-6.

Place-Shaping and the symbiotic relationship of projects and place.
Place Marketing, Destination Branding & Stakeholder Engagement Management.
The emergence and growth of Project Management in the Visitor Economy and Service Sectors.

Knowledge Exchange activity
Rachael has worked with Lancaster and Morecambe Bay place stakeholders and partners for over a decade across public, private and voluntary sectors and continues to follow place project activities with interest. Knowledge Exchange is further embedded through the applied nature of the applied Degree Programmes in which robust employer relationships are fundamental to contratual agreements with large national and global employers based in the construction, defence, nuclear, utlity, health, pharmaceutical, media and public sectors, as well as with a diverse range of SME's from across the UK.
