Personal profile
Biography
Matthew Robson, is Professor in Forest Ecology at the UK National School of Forestry based at the University of Cumbria, Ambleside, with dual affiliation at the University of Helsinki. Matthew’s research focuses on the dynamic response of photosynthesis to sunflecks and the potential consequences of increases in future diffuse radiation in plant canopies. His recent publications describe the mechanisms of light and water use by plants; process-based species distribution models; radiative transfer modelling in canopies; technological solutions for monitoring canopy processes; paleoecological proxies to assess past UV radiation; applications of increased robustness of plants following UV radiation exposure. He is currently UNEP EEAP Lead Author in the assessment of interactive effects on terrestrial ecosystems and biogeochemical cycling of climate change including effects of Stratospheric Aerosol Injection and stratospheric ozone depletion. He additionally has remained on the Management Committee of UV4Plants International Association for Plant-UV research since its inception in 2014.
