Abstract

An exploration of the life and career of Albert Salomon. Albert Salomon is considered to be one of the earliest pioneers of breast surgery. His early work laid the foundation for the crucial development of mammography. He faced many adversities in his life and was impacted greatly by World War II and the Holocaust. This article celebrates his life, work and contribution to breast imaging. It was the prizewinning essay for the 2024 John Clifton Essay Prize.
