Alchemist's Shack III: Underworlds

Research output: Non-textual formExhibition

Abstract

Alchemist’s Shack III will build on the success of the 2012 season and the publishing of the artwork Dis Manibus: A taxonomy of ghosts from popular forms. Dis Manibus is a Latin term, abbreviated to DM on Roman tombstones, which dedicate the occupants to ‘The Spirits of the Underworld’. Working towards the final installation of the Alchemist’s Shack, Robert Williams and Hilmar Schäfer will join Mildred’s Lane Fellows in the exploration of tropes and emergent themes arising from ideas of the Underworld: underground and hidden spaces, interior realms, other worlds and forbidden regions.
