Abstract
This chapter argues that the future of nursing and midwifery education requires a paradigm that leads to a transformational shift from passive awareness of racism to being actively anti-racist. It draws on the literature on anti-racist research and practice in nursing and midwifery and provides nurse educators with actionable strategies aimed at equipping future nurses with the competence, courage and confidence to be anti-racist in every context of care. Thus, shifting from rhetorical commitments to diversity to embedding anti-racist praxis across curricula, pedagogy, assessment and institutional structures, cultivating a socially just and anti-racist nursing workforce begins with education.
