Abstract

The third title in the 'Warpath' series is the story of John Smith, Chindit Commando. The Japanese army seems invincible in the jungles of South East Asia. But one man believes otherwise, Orde Wingate sends a small force of highly trained commandos deep behind enemy lines. The Chindits, as they became known, played a crucial role in the ultimate defeat of the Japanese. We follow the action from the perspective of a young commando officer, as he and his unit try to make their way to safety. Historically accurate, this first person narrative for boys is based on real life events.
