Abstract
The introduction, in some national contexts, of policies requiring students with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) to wear particular lanyards has sparked considerable debate regarding the balance between inclusion, support, and stigmatisation. While these policies are often implemented with the intention of enhancing staff awareness and ensuring that students receive appropriate accommodations, they have also led to concerns about unintended negative consequences, such as the public identification of disabilities and the social marginalisation of affected students.
