Abstract
This chapter begins with an exploration of the particular requirements of education in radiography in a rapidly changing healthcare environment, based on the twin requirements of a high level of specific scientific knowledge, coupled with the social skills that are required to operate as an effective practitioner. The nature of differing student learning approaches is considered, so that there is an awareness that students have different experiences of education, and how our teaching should accommodate this. In order to develop deep learning skills, the value of group work where ideas and support from others are important is explored, demonstrating that it provides further opportunities that the traditional lecture format may not deliver. Assessment, outlining the differences between formative and summative assessment, and how it is used in practice is discussed. Finally, the evolving use of technology in education will inform the discussion of radiography education.
