Abstract

'Il volto della follia' is a catalogue of a major exhibition in Italy on the history of the depiction, through photography, of mental health related issues, featuring images from John Darwell's series 'A Black Dog Came Calling'. The catalogue contains five hundred photographs documenting the environments and life inside the psychiatric hospitals. Darwell's photographs feature alongside those of Uliano Lucas, Roberto Salbitani, Enzo Cei, Philippe Tournay, Giordano Morganti, Marco Fantini and Ilaria Turba.
