Abstract
The installation I’m Not There by Snæbjörnsdóttir/Wilson will be shown at the site of Hobart’s Beaumaris Zoo, the home of the last thylacine held in captivity. It comprises twenty colourful signs on a tall post, the names given to the thylacine by the colonists during their one and a half centuries of contact with the species. Part of Tasmania's 'Ten Days on the Island' festival. The installation Big Mouth (2004), from which these signs are taken, was originally shown in the celebrated Tramway 2 gallery in Glasgow.
