Hi, I'm Sharon. I joined Cumbria Ambulance Service in 1995 with the first cohort of trainee paramedics – I know, before most of you were born! Following the traditional Institute of Health and Care Development (IHCD) route from ambulance tech to paramedic, I was fortunate to become an emergency care practitioner via a fully-funded BSc (Hons) in 2004 – the initial advanced clinical practitioner qualification – which then led to a university secondment in 2006, while pregnant with my son. I remain in clinical practice today, juggling lecturing, supporting students, being a mum, wife, foster parent, home educator and walking the dogs.
