Abstract
This article, the third in our series on the power of narratives, defines the concept of advocacy in the context of health and social care practice. Questions are posed as to the content and utility of narratives, and how they can support the role of the professional as an advocate. We also explore challenges to the role in the context of professional practice and three students share their stories of occasions when they believed they acted as advocates.
