Abstract

Dance is an important part of the physical, emotional and cultural development of every child. It features in all cultures as a social activity. It develops coordination and uses movement to communicate expression and historical concepts. The key fundamentals of movement taught in high-quality dance lessons develop a kinaesthetic awareness of movement at an early age and underpin movement in all later sporting activities.
