Abstract
Here is a new edition of 'The teaching of history in primary schools' for the new millennium! The first edition (published in 1992 as The teaching of history) celebrated the entitlement of all primary school children, for the first time, to learn history as part of a broad and rich curriculum and to engage with genuine historical enquiry from their earliest years. It aimed to show primary school teachers, in basic practical ways, how the National Curriculum for History, introduced in 2001, could be implemented.
