Abstract

Tree phenology in harsh arid and semi arid countries such as Somalia is usually linked to rainfall. Most trees come into leaf, flower and fruit after the two rainy seasons. Seed collection, extraction, storage insect damage and pre-treatment are described. Efforts were concentrated on collection of native species for the 1989 field trials.
